Local Businesswoman Honored at The White House

Rebecca Rubin, founder and chief executive of the Fredericksburg-based environmental consulting firm Marstel Day, LLC, was recognized at The White House.  The event, White House Champions of Change: Community Resilience Leaders, honored 12 business and community leaders for working on the conservation and climate change.

Rubin is dedicated to the conservation of natural resources, especially habitat and open space, energy and water. Her firm works with businesses and organizations to develop and implement conservation best practices. 

She was involved, for example, on behalf of the Army and Navy in the creation of several national wildlife refuges from former Department of Defense lands.

Rubin founded Marstel-Day in 2002. The company employs 95-people in its Fredericksburg, Alexandria and Oakland, Calif. offices.  Prior to founding Marstel-Day, Ms. Rubin served as the Director of the Army's Environmental Policy Institute and before that as a member of the professional research staff at the Institute for Defense Analyses.

Rubin has a BA in history from Harvard College and an MA in International Security from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
