Police: Man Assaults Woman, Cuts Boyfriend With Box Cutter

After suspect allegedly assaulted a woman, her boyfriend confronted him and was injured, police say.

Fredericksburg police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a Spotsylvania woman, then cut her boyfriend's hand with a box cutter.

The woman was in her car around 2:40 a.m. Sept. 8 at the 1700 block of Lafayette Blvd when a man approached her and offered her money for sex. The woman, who had just returned to her friend's apartment after a trip to the store, refused.

The man then reached inside the car and started fondling her butt, said Natatia Bledsoe, a public information officer with the Fredericksburg Police Department. The man walked away after she screamed.
