STAFFORD, VA—A man was arrested Wednesday night after assaulting a woman in the 700 block of Edwards Drive and then leading police on a slow chase, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Guy Castonguay, 26, of Fredericksburg, was charged with strangulation, abduction, domestic assault and battery, eluding, assault on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, open container and assorted traffic offenses.

Around 9:30 p.m., police responded to the aforementioned area for a reported domestic incident in progress. The "visibly distraught" woman said that during an argument, Castonguay had punched and strangled her. She eventually escaped to the back yard and called 911. Castonguay then grabbed an alcoholic beverage and left the residence in a gold car headed toward Deacon Road.

A deputy spotted the vehicle at the intersection of Sullivan Drive and Edwards Drive and tried to pull it over, after which it kept going, came to a brief stop but starting going again when the officer exited his vehicle.
