Man With Chainsaw Who Broke Into House Taken Into Custody In Stafford
A man armed with a chainsaw and a hammer broke into a house and tried to steal a car in Stafford County Monday, the sheriff's office said.
STAFFORD, VA — A man who broke into a home and tried to steal a car while armed with a chainsaw and a hammer in Stafford County was taken into custody by police Monday morning after an extensive search.
Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Major Shawn Kimmitz said sheriff’s deputies responded to a report around 7 a.m. after the man “unlawfully” went into a home on Musselman Road.
The man was scared away by the homeowner and then tried to break into the car about a block away on Musselman Road, Kimmitz said.

The sheriff’s office has not released the name of the suspect. During the search, he was described as in his 30s or 40s.
“After an exhaustive manhunt with our drone and K-9, deputies were able to locate our suspect from the earlier burglary and attempted carjacking along Musselman Road,” Kimmitz said.

The suspect was taken into custody behind Rappahannock Landing, he said.
Kimmitz said Monday the sheriff's office will provide an update with the suspect's name at a later time.
