SPOTSYLVANIA, VA—With students having yet to attend a complete day of school this week because of inclement weather conditions, Spotsylvania County Public Schools has decided to cancel mid-term exams. Here are the details, per the school system:

Student grades for the semester will be calculated using the grades from the 1st and 2nd 9-week marking periods. Please note that although exams are canceled some teachers may still utilize the assessment as a means of determining student growth.

Additionally, while some teachers may forgo the exam entirely a student will have the opportunity to take the exam should they choose to do so. Any student wanting to take the exam will need to coordinate a suitable time with their teacher. In all cases an exam grade can only be used should it elevate a student's semester average.
