Mother Arrested for Tying Up, Assaulting Daughter

Child placed into foster care after incident.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff's arrested a 58 year-old mother on child abuse charges after receiving a report that she had tied up and assaulted her 12 year-old daughter.

On Friday, June 17, the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the reports, visiting the family home. During the investigation, relatives of the family told police that Schon Noelle Chesed Shea may have bound and assaulted her daughter the day before.

While on the scene, police were unable to locate Shea or her daughter and issued a lookout bulletin for the mothers vehicle. On Sunday afternoon, Shea was stopped in her car by Fredericksburg City Police.

"Based upon the condition of the child at that time, the 12 year-old was immediately taken into custody by the deputy," reads a press release on the incident.

The child was taken to the Safe Harbor Children's Advocacy Center where she received food and clothing and was interviewed by detectives and social services agents.

The information gathered from this interview was used as the basis to arrest Shea.

After the investigation, the child went through a medical exam to look for injuries before being placed into foster care.
