Motorcycle Driver Loses Control, Dies

Speed is being examined as a possible contributing factor in the Oct. 18 crash.

A 52-year-old man from Manassas died Thursday when he lost control of the motorcycle he was driving on Mt. Olive Road and struck a mailbox, according to Cpt. Mike Harvey of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Accident Reconstruction Deputies responded to the 2300 block of Mt. Olive Rd. at about 3:20 p.m. for a report of a single motorcycle crash. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene, said Harvey.  Authorities identified him as William Lee Arrington from Manassas.

Arrington allegedly lost control of his motorcycle while passing a school bus, and struck a mailbox. Speed is being examined as a possible contributing factor, but the case is still under investigation, said Harvey.
