No Redistricting Favorite For Council

The Fredericksburg City Council declined to identify a preferred redistricting option in advance of a Sept. 13 public hearing on the issue.

The Fredericksburg City Council declined to identify a preference for one of three local redistricting options currently proposed.

Following a presentation from members of the Fredericksburg Planning and Community Development Office, Ward 2 Councilor George Solley moved to table the motion so that all three options could be discussed at a planned public hearing on redistricting on Sept. 13.

"I, personally, am not ready to narrow it down to one option," said Solley. "I think that would predispose the public discussion at the hearing...we have not discussed this as a body since we've received the redistricting plans...because it's a ten year decision, I think it warrants further discussion."
