Northen Neck Ferry Service Begins Summer Hours
Merry Point, Sunny Bank ferries will extend their hours in a pilot program, VDOT said.
Extended summer hours for the Merry Point and Sunny Bank Ferry service on the Northern Neck will be offered this year as part of a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) pilot program.
The summer schedule will be in effect Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends: Saturday, May 25 - Monday, Sept. 2, 2013. Summer hours of operation are:

- Monday - Friday: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Saturday - Sunday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Sunny Bank
- Monday - Saturday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Sunday: No service.
The Merry Point Ferry service is located on Route 604 in Lancaster. It crosses the western end of the Corrotoman River.

The Sunny Bank Ferry service is located on Route 644 in Northumberland County. It crosses the Little Wicomico River.

At the conclusion of this trial period, VDOT will evaluate summer ridership on the ferries for future potential service.
