Northern Virginia Weather: Hazardous Outlook Issued

A hazardous weather outlook for the Norther Virginia area has been issued by the National Weather Service's area headquarters in Sterling.

STERLING, VA—With drenching rain on the way for the Northern Virginia area, a flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday. Approximately 1-2 inches of rain is expected, with up to 3 inches possible.

Come Friday, as pointed out by the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang, ". . .most of us should remain dry until the more widespread rain arrives later in the afternoon and toward rush hour." Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. East wind 3 to 5 mph.

Friday: Rain after 1pm. High near 47. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Rain. Low around 44. Light northeast wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain before 1pm, then showers after 1pm. High near 52. Northeast wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
