James Monroe lost to Brookville in the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group AA Division 3 state final at Liberty University.  The Yellow Jackets played tough, but the Bees held onto their lead to previal 24-14.

James Monroe finished the 2012 season 12-2.

The game was a rematch of last year's state championship, in which Brookville beat James Monroe 34-33.
