Police Release Photos of ATM Bombing Suspect

Two photos from the surveillance video show the suspect at the Virginia Credit Union just before Wednesday's early morning explosion.

City of Fredericksburg Police have released two surveillance video photos of the suspect who placed an improvised explosive device at the Virginia Credit Union drive-through ATM at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The device exploded, but the ATM remained intact and functional. The explosion caused superficial damage to the drive-through area. "The image of the device has been deliberately obscured [in the photos]," said Natatia L. Bledsoe, Fredericksburg Police Department Public Information Officer.

The suspect appears to be wearing a ski mask, jeans, a dark colored hoodie under a dark blue or black overcoat, and a head lamp.  "They may have carried a backpack or bag with them," Bledsoe said in a press release. "They could have arrived at the crime scene on foot, in a vehicle or even by bicycle," she said.
