Raising Cane's Offers Free Food Drawing At Fredericksburg Opening
Raising Cane's restaurant in Fredericksburg opens Oct. 31 with drawings for free food, a visit by Gus the mascot for the Nats, and more.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Food giveways, a donation to local school athletics and more events are planned when Raising Cane's opens in Fredericksburg. The chain will open its restaurant at 8 a.m. on Oct. 31.
Raising Cane's specializes in chicken fingers and dipping sauces. "We serve only the most craveable chicken finger meals," the chain says on its website. "It's our one love."
The restaurant will be located at 3071 Plank Road near Central Park's main entrance. The former Pier 1 Imports building was torn down as construction began in February, Fredericksburg's economic development department said.

To celebrate the opening, Raising Cane’s is these activities:
- A “Lucky 20” drawing to award 20 customers ages 13 and older Free Cane’s for a Year! Entries will be accepted from 7 to 8 a.m. with the winners announced shortly following. Customers must be present to win.
- A ribbon-cutting ceremony with representatives from the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce following the drawing at 8:30 a.m.
- A commemorative T-shirt to the first 100 dine-in customers in line who purchase a combo
- A check presentation to Riverbend High School Athletics with the school’s cheerleaders in attendance.
- Plus, it’s Gus! The mascot of the Fredericksburg Nationals Single-A baseball team will mingle with the crowd. (Look out for the purple guy with red hair, green lips and yellow horns!)
The Fredericksburg Raising Cane’s operating hours are Sunday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 midnight, and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. This is the ninth Cane’s in Virginia and one of more than 750 restaurants in the system.

Raising Cane's opened its first restaurant in August, 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The restaurant was named for founder Todd Grave's beloved Labrador.
Now, there are more than 700 Raising Cane's restaurants throughout the United States, including locations in Sterling, Charlottesville, and Norfolk.
