Rescue Me: Bones The Cat Has Three Legs, Full Heart; She Can't Lose
Bones is a three-legged cat available for adoption through the Fredericksburg SPCA now that all of her kittens have found homes.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Bones The Cat is a champion, a dedicated mother who was left with three legs after she suffered a gunshot wound.
Bones came to the Fredericksburg SPCA with her five kittens. Her kittens all found homes of their own, and now it's time for this empty nester to find her new family.
"Recently, we welcomed a tiny skin n' bones 6-pound cat and her five kittens from a rural shelter to our facility," the Fredericksburg SPCA told Patch. "During her examination, we discovered that Miss Bones had suffered a bullet wound in her leg that had shattered her fibula and tibia, and left it full of shrapnel."

The SPCA's Locke Community Medical Center took care of Bones and successfully amputated her injured leg.
Bones, joined by her kittens, spent time in foster care as the newly three-legged mother cat recovered. Now, all of Bones's kittens have grown up and found new homes.

"Now it's mama's turn," the SPCA said. "Bones is hoping to find a home this Saturday for the Fred SPCA 80th Birthday Bash this Saturday from 12 - 6 p.m.!"
To celebrate the SPCA's 80th anniversary, the shelter will have $80 adoptions and 10 animals will have their fees waived. There will also be food and live music at the birthday bash.
