Rescue Me: Lovely Wilma Was Saved From A Dogfighting Operation
Wilma, a 3-year-old dog, is ready to love a family of her own after she was rescued from a dog fighting ring in South Carolina in September.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Wilma is a 3-year-old dog available for adoption through the Fredericksburg SPCA. In September, the Humane Society, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Office of Inspector General rescued Wilma along with 274 other dogs from a dog fighting ring in South Carolina.
Wilma was not a fighting dog, but she still survived inhumane conditions with her friendly spirit still intact.
"With cases like these, the animals that come to our care have been used either for breeding or bait, and are carefully assessed behaviorally and medically before making their way to us for rehabilitation and a second chance at life," the Fredericksburg SPCA said. "Wilma was one of those dogs, and this happy girl is ready to find a home of her own!"

The Fredericksburg SPCA accepted several dogs from the South Carolina case. They have all joined loving homes, except for Wilma.
"Miss Wilma is always smiling with her signature squint - even more so if you have a ball or treat to share with her," the SPCA said. She is just shy of 4 years old and has lots of play and zoomies to catch up on!"

Wilma does well during play sessions with other dogs and enjoys walking with volunteers. Whoever adopts her will also receive a goodie basket from the humane society as a thank you.
