FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Oreo, a 2-year-old cat at the Fredericksburg SPCA, is ready to be adopted into a forever home of his own.

Oreo is gentle and quiet. SPCA staff said he is still working to adjust to the hectic shelter environment.

"He's curious and playful and if you know how to use a ribbon toy for him to hunt and pounce on," the SPCA said. "He'll play a game of seek and dash that's sure to make you smile."

For the Fredericksburg SPCA, the warmer weather means an influx of younger kittens.

"As the shelter fills with kittens for the summer, adult cats like Oreo find it harder to find a family," the SPCA said.

And sweet Oreo deserves a family. The SPCA said that Oreo loves when volunteers sit and read to him, so he'd be a perfect addition to a low-key home.

"Just like the cookies he's named after, Oreo has a sweet inside that's waiting to be discovered," the SPCA said. "If you've got a sweet tooth, head to the Fred SPCA to meet him."

The SPCA is open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday through Saturday. More information about Oreo and other adoptable cats and dogs is available online.
