Angel Tree Donations Accepted Thru Monday

The Salvation Army Fredericksburg extended its Angel Tree deadline due to a shortage of gifts.

There's still time to donate gifts for children and the elderly through The Salvation Army Fredericksburg's Angel Tree holiday program.

"Since the need is still so great, we are receiving gifts through Dec. 10, Elizabeth Willett, director of development said.

Those wishing to donate may choose from the Angel Tree a person's specific gift wish, or simply bring a 'standard' gift to one of the drop-off locations.

Angel Trees are located at all area Walmarts, Giant at Harrison Crossing, and at Spotsylvania Towne Center inside the main entrance, which is adjacent to Belk, Willett said.

Gifts are especially needed for boys and girls age 11 - 14.  "Games for Wii and Nintendo DS are most popular for this age," Willet said.  She said girls also appreciate personal items like make-up, nail polish, and hair and fashion accessories.
