Salvation Army Volunteer Gives and Receives
An ad on Facebook connected a woman wanting to give with an organization in need.

Rachel Dunai was on Facebook when she noticed an advertisment seeking volunteer bell ringers for The Salvation Army of Fredericksburg. "I figured I could sit on my couch or get out and volunteer," Dunai said as she rang with a huge smile in front of Goolrick's Modern Pharmacy & Soda Fountain in Downtown Fredericksburg.
Dunai said she originally volunteered for 16 hours of ringing in two hour shifts over several days. She alternates between different locations. Now she is also filling in where needed. "It broke my heart on Saturday at Spotsy Mall when they came to take the kettle away because the person after me was not coming," Dunai said.
On Monday afternoon in front of Goolrick's, Dunai was doing a six hour shift to keep the bell ringing. Friends were coming by every few hours to provide a bathroom break and refreshments.
