Hugh Mercer Issues First School Day Tips
Administrators at Hugh Mercer Elementary School have issued some advice to parents to help ensure a smooth transition into academic life. Parents are asked not to walk their children to their classrooms nor visit them during lunchtime for the first two weeks of school.
The school will have staff on hand throughout the day to make sure that students are where they are supposed to be.

Spirit Day at Lafayette
Students at Lafayette Upper Elementary School are asked to wear black and yellow for spirit day on Friday, Sept. 9.

Walker Grant Girls Hoops Tryouts
Girls interested in trying out for the Walker Grant Middle School girls' basketball team should attend tryouts at the school on Sept. 6 and 7 from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Athletes must turn in an up to date VHSL sports physical in order to try out.
