Sheriff's Office: Multiple Keyless Ignition Vehicles Stolen in Stafford County

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office is warning residents to lock and secure their vehicles following reports of multiple auto thefts.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports of stolen vehicles in the Delta Zone (encompassing the west side of Route 1 and area north of Courthouse Road).

The vehicles involved reportedly used keyless ignitions/push button start systems and owners had reportedly left keys in the unlocked vehicles.

Stafford County residents are encouraged to keep in mind the following crime prevention tips:

  1. Park in a well-lighted area whenever possible
  2. Park as close to your residence as possible
  3. Use your garage if you have one and remember to lock your garage door. Remember to lock your vehicle doors, even when it’s in the garage.
  4. Don’t disconnect the buzzer that warns of keys left in the ignition. It’s for your protection.
