SPCA Seeks Loving Home For Sequoia, A Dog With Terminal Lymphoma
Sequoia, a dog at the Fredericksburg SPCA, has terminal lymphoma. Volunteers are hoping to find her a loving home for her final months.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Sequoia the dog came to the Fredericksburg SPCA with a litter of seven puppies. She raised them in foster care before she was diagnosed with terminal lymphoma.
"A few months is the clinical textbook time Sequoia has left with her recent diagnosis of Lymphoma," the Fredericksburg SPCA told Patch. "When our team noticed swelling around the lymph nodes, a fine needle aspirate was sent to the lab to confirm cancerous cells."
Sequoia only has so much time left. The Fredericksburg SPCA is trying to ensure that her final days, weeks, or months are full of love and support.

"There’s no way to sugarcoat the diagnosis, nor predict if the time she has left is shorter or greater than expected. What we do know is that Sequoia needs a home to call her own, sooner rather than later," the SPCA said. "Aside from her swollen lymph nodes, you’d never know this sweet girl was sick. She is still her happy, fun self who loves chasing balls and getting belly rubs."
As she raised her puppies, Sequoia's former foster parent noted that the playful girl is smart, full of personality, and food motivated. She already knows "sit" and "down."

"She is a playful companion who cherishes every moment spent with those she loves," the SPCA said. "Sequoia’s time may be limited, but her capacity to bring joy and warmth to a loving home is limitless."
Sequoia's adoption fee has been waived, and SPCA staff noted that she would need to be the only animal in her new home to minimize any pain from play or stress.
