VA Man Faces Possible Life Sentence In 2023 Fatal Shooting

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 26-year-old Spotsylvania man was arrested Thursday in connection to the June 10, 2023 fatal shooting of Antione Fox, 19, of Fredericksburg, according to authorities.

Based on the evidence detectives gathered during their investigation, Ahmad Haigler was identified as a suspect in the case, according to police.

Haigler was arrested on Thursday and charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit murder, conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was then held without bond in the Rappahannock Regional Jail, according to police.

Haigler has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday in Fredericksburg Circuit Court on all four charges, including the first-degree murder charge, which is a Class 2 felony, according to court records.

Under the Code of Virginia, Haigler faces a potential life sentence in prison or a minimum of 20 years in custody, as well as a fine of up to $100,000, on the murder charge.

The conspiracy to commit murder is a Class 5 felony, according to the Code of Virginia. If convicted, Haigler could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison or 12 months in jail, along with a potential fine of up to $2,500.

The use of a firearm in a felony (first offense) is an unclassified felony and the nonviolent felon in possession of a gun is considered a Class 6 felony, which is punishable by up to five years in prison, or at the court or jury’s discretion, a sentence of up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500.
