Stafford HS Production Of 'Agnes Of God' Earns 6 Major Theater Awards

STAFFORD, VA — Stafford High School’s production of “Agnes of God” garnered six major awards at the Virginia Theatre Association Conference on Oct. 27. This earned the students a ticket to the Southeastern Theatre Conference, which takes place next March in Baltimore.

Stafford High’s production of “Agnes of God” earned the following awards at the festival: Best Play, Best Actor, two All-Star Cast honors, Outstanding Technical Merit, and Best Set Design.

In addition, the cast and crew placed first in the Tech Theatre Olympics, which recognized their outstanding skills in lighting, costuming, and carpentry. This is the fourth consecutive year that Stafford students have earned that distinction.

“These achievements secured Stafford High School’s place at the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), to be held in Baltimore in March 2025. This national competition will feature top high school productions from across the southeastern United States, a prestigious opportunity comparable to advancing from a state championship to a national title,” according to a release from Stafford HS Drama Boosters. “Competing at SETC for the sixth time, StaStafford HS Drama Boosters. “Competing at SETC for the sixth time, Stafford High School has a proud legacy, including their 2011 national title win.”

Stafford HS Drama Boosters is calling on members of the community to help the school’s theater students pay for their trip to Baltimore to compete in SETC next March.
