Stafford Man Admits To Riding Off With Electric Shopping Cart: Sheriff
A Stafford man admitted to riding off with an electric shopping cart from a Fredericksburg store, according to the sheriff's office.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 58-year-old Stafford man was charged with grand larceny, after riding off with one of the electric shopping carts from a Fredericksburg discount department store on Monday, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy responded around 2:33 p.m. to the Walmart at 11 Village Parkway to investigate a larceny report. Once there, he learned that a man had absconded with an electric shopping cart, according to the incident report.
Reviewing the store's surveillance video, the deputy recognized the suspect and knew his address, according to the report. The deputy went to the suspect's home, where the man admitted taking the cart, which was charging at an adjacent residence.

The deputy arrested Kenneth Limerick Sr., charging him with felony grand larceny, according to the report. He was then held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
Limerick was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in Stafford General District Court, according to court records. No information was available when his preliminary hearing will take place.

On Nov. 1, Limerick was arrested for public intoxication and assault and battery of a family member, according to court records.
Limerick is due back in Stafford General District Court at 9 a.m. on Dec. 12 for a preliminary hearing on the public intoxication charge, court records say. That charge is a Class 4 misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine of up to $250 but no jail time, under Virginia law.
In addition, Limerick has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 18, 2026 in Stafford County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on the assault charge, which is a Class 1 misdemeanor. If convicted on this charge, he faces a potential sentence of up to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500, under the Virginia Code.
