Stafford Schools Breaks Ground On Elementary School 19: Release
Local officials gathered along Black Hawk Drive in the Aquia magisterial district on Tuesday for groundbreaking ceremony.

STAFFORD, VA – Members of the Stafford County community, to include students, the Stafford County School Board, Stafford County Board of Supervisors, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, Samaha Associates, Branch Builds, Inc., and McDonough-Bolyard-Peck (MBP) construction management gathered along Black Hawk Drive in the Aquia magisterial district today to officially break ground on the construction of Elementary School 19. The new school, set to open in August 2026, will join High School 6 and Elementary School 18 as one of three current construction projects set to address the county’s rapidly growing population.
“This new school represents our commitment to meeting the urgent needs of our growing community, providing a space where our youngest learners will thrive and grow,” said Ms. Maya Guy, Aquia representative and vice-chair of the Stafford County School Board. “I look forward to the day when its halls are filled with students ready to embark on their educational journey.”

Following the prototype elementary school established by Elementary School 18, Elementary School 19 is planned to house up to 1070 students and serve grades K through 5. The elementary school will be 131,000 square feet, designed to maximize classroom space and provide energy efficiency for future maintenance.
“I’m proud to highlight the $20 million in cost savings achieved between this project and Elementary School 18 through our innovative, efficient designs,” said Stafford Schools Acting Superintendent Chris R. Fulmer. “These savings reflect our commitment to creating state-of-the-art learning environments while being financially responsible to our community”

A contract was awarded to Branch Builds, Inc., in the amount of $43,947,681 for the construction of Elementary School 19 during the September 10, 2024, regular School Board meeting. Samaha Associates has partnered with the school division on the project design. MBP Construction will provide construction administration and project management services.
