Stafford Sheriff Named to State Post
Sheriff Charles Jett appointed to Criminal Justice Services Board

Stafford County Sheriff Charles Jett has been appointed by Gov. Bob McDonnell chair of the Commonwealth of Virginia Criminal Justice Services Board. Jett will serve a two year term as a board member from now until June 2013.
"Charlie Jett is a long time friend and colleague," said McDonnell in a press release issued by the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. "He is a recognized leader in law enforcement who knows the importance of a balanced approach to public safety."
Jett has been Sheriff of Stafford County since 2000, and has 32 years total experience with the Stafford Sheriff's Office.

The 29-member Criminal Justice Services Board is the Department of Criminal Justice Services policy board. It has representation from all aspects of the criminal justice system on both the state and local levels of government, as well as representatives of the private security industry, the public-at-large and the General Assembly.
The Board is the approving authority for regulations the Department disseminates in accord with the Administrative Process Act and approves most grants the Department awards to localities, state agencies and private non-profit organizations.
