Star Student With 'Great Heart' Shines Bright In Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Every day, young people throughout our community are making a difference. They work hard in the classroom, shine on sports fields, and volunteer in their free time.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Kate LaDue who nominated Madelyn of Fredericksburg. Kate said she admires Madelyn's willingness to volunteer through coaching, umpiring, and local service projects.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

She not only volunteers in so many ways within her community but she embodies someone who cares. She assistant coaches and umpires with little
League, assistant coaches with Upwards basketball, and serves within the children’s ministry of her church. Maddie is part of her local American Heritage Girls chapter and has participated in many service projects including helping out at Leashes of Valor, Project Sewing Seeds, and with a baby shower benefitting the Choices women’s Center. She enjoys being part of her theater group and loved dressing up as Belle for the Tim Tebow Night to Shine event. She sings on the youth worship team and in the choir at church. Maddie is an example of a mature young adult who is a great example for other young adults. She is a shining star who loves working with kids and giving back to the organizations that she enjoyed growing up. Maddie has a great heart and wants to share her gifts with others.

Maddie has a great heart, loves to give back and serve within her community. She is an honor roll student and a star example young adult.
