'Brutal' Killing of Store Clerk: Person of Interest in Custody, Says Sheriff's Office
Investigators quickly determined person of interest. Currently being questioned, according to Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — Quick work in the investigation of a murdered store clerk in Spotsylvania early Saturday morning has led to a person of interest, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.
David Junior Washington, 50, of no fixed address in Spotsylvania, was taken into custody without incident at the Dunning Mills apartments in Fredericksburg. He is being held for questioning and the investigation continues, according to Capt. Jeff Pearce, a Sheriff's Office spokesperson.
At 1:35 a.m., a suspect entered the Sunoco Station at 5300 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy. "After several minutes, the suspect brutally attacked the store clerk, a 54-year-old male, causing the death of the victim," Pearce noted in a statement Saturday morning.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.

Deputies and detectives are currently conducting a forensic examination of the crime scene, according to Pearce. A photo of the suspect was recovered from the Sunoco’s security system
