Subject Fires into Spotsylvania Home, Flees Scene
The Sheriff's Office seeks the public's assistance to identify the shooter.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 5300 block of Cedar Ridge Drive.
"Upon arrival, deputies discovered that an unknown subject had fired several shots from a small caliber firearm into an occupied residence and then fled the scene," Cpt. Jeffery Pearce, Sheriff's Office spokesperson said in a press release.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division processed the scene, recovering numerous spent shells and bullets, along with other items of evidentiary value, Pearce said.

"During the ongoing investigation, it was determined that the family currently living in the residence was mistakenly targeted, and that the shooting most likely stemmed from an altercation with another person who had recently moved from the neighboring residence," Pearce said.
The victims in the residence where the shooting occurred were shaken; however no one was injured.

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public regarding the identity of the subject involved in this shooting.
