Suspect In Sexual Assault On Fredericksburg Canal Path Sought

Fredericksburg police are trying to identify a man wanted in connection to a sexual assault Sunday night, according to reports.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg police are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect in a sexual assault reported around 9 p.m. on Sunday on the canal path between Washington Avenue and Emancipation Highway in the Cossey Pond area.

Police described the suspect as a man with a medium build who stood about 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-5 in height. The man spoke with an accent and was possibly Middle Eastern, Hispanic or Indian, according to police. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the assault.

The suspect was last seen running on the path toward Emancipation Highway and Mary Washington Boulevard, according to the incident report. No weapons were shown during the incident.
