Teen Leads Sheriffs on 31 Mile Chase
16-year-old tells Spotsy deputies that he fled to avoid second ticket in recent weeks.

Hoping to avoid getting into more trouble, a lead-footed 16-year-old led deputies on a 31 mile high-speed pursuit yesterday in Spotsylvania County.
The incident began around 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday night when Deputy John Durbin clocked the juvenile suspect doing 82mph in a 52mph zone near the Bloomsbury subdivision off of Courthouse Road. Durbin gave chase. Once he caught up to the speeding car, the driver began to change lanes and accellerate away.
Durbin then activated his lights and siren and continued following the speeding teen.

Police immediately caught the driver. It was only then that Durbin realized he had been chasing a youth.
"When asked why he did not stop for the lights and sirens, the juvenile stated that he had just gotten a ticket the week before and was afraid of getting into more trouble," reads the press release.
The juvenile suspect was arrested and taken to the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center.
