Text Messages Lead to Fight

Victim lost consciousness during Spotsy attack

A dispute over text messages resulted in a street side fight in Spotsylvania County yesterday. County sheriff's later arrested 21-year-old Spotsylvania resident Darnell Richardson over the assault.

The incident began on May 16 as Spotsylvania resident Donald Lee was walking his bicycle home from a friends house on Irish Lane. A black car approached and from inside, Richardson started to question Lee about a series of text messages which he had received from Lee.

Police say that the discussion took a turn for the violent as Richardson then began to punch Lee repeatedly in the face and head. During the fight, Lee lost consciousness for a few moments. When he came to, he tells police that he saw the suspect walking back towards the car.
