SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA—Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night, April 14, on Route 208 (Courthouse Road) near Route 628 (Smith Station Road), according to Virginia State Police. Richard M. Van Houten, 20, of Woodbridge, and Stephany L. Hartley, 29, of Locust Grove, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after 10 p.m., according to police, a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Hartley, was headed west on Route 208 when it collided head-on with a 2013 Ford Fusion headed in the opposite direction.

Both of the deceased were in the Chevrolet, as were two other adults and a child, who were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford, a 40-year-old woman from Fredericksburg, also was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
