University of Mary Washington named among nation's 376 best colleges.

The annual college guide includes detailed profiles of the colleges with school rating scores in eight categories, including admissions selectivity, academics and quality of life.

In its profile, the Princeton Review calls UMW “‘a lovely state university that gives you a private school education.’”

“Students laud ‘the small student body and class sizes,’” and “believe UMW is ‘a hidden jewel that delivers on a historical campus,’” the guide states. “UMW is ‘a small school with a big heart’ and ‘is a tight-knit community with an atmosphere that pushes you to your potential.’”

The University of Mary Washington has received national recognition through consistently high rankings in selective publications and many college guidebooks, including most recently the 2012 Fiske Guide to Colleges. The university has also received been recognized in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, U.S. News & World Report and Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges and Universities.
