UMW Psych Dept. Announces Graduate in Residence

Mary Baldwin academic with a background in experimental social research to address staff, public during three day visit.

Mathhew Hunsinger, a Mary Baldwin College psychology assistant professor who studies racial, ethic and gender bias has been named graduate in residence for the University of Mary Washington's Department of Psychology. In this role he will travel to Fredericksburg for three days to discuss experimental social psychology with students, staff and the public. 

His visit includes a public lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 entitled Paths to Improving Intergroup Relations: Decreasing Intergroup Bias in a Diverse World at Combs Hall on the UMW campus. 

Hunsinger graduated from UMW with an honors psychology degree in 2001. He went on to receive a master's degree in cognitive science from Illinois State Universite and earned his doctorate in experimential social psychology from the University of Massachusetts. As an assistant professor at Mary Baldwin, Hunsinger  lectures on social cognition, conflict resolution, learning and behavior studies.
