UMW Women's Soccer Tops Shenandoah

Second half rally gives Eagles win on opening day road game.

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team came from behind to top Shenandoah University, 2-1, on Thursday night in Winchester. The Eagles improve to 1-0 overall. Sophomores Erin Reynolds and Carly Davis each scored second half goals to secure the lead for the Eagles. 

The Hornets led at halftime, 1-0, after Jessi Dennis scored at 14:16. Reynolds tied the score in the 53rd minute on an assist from senior Marianne Dubinsky, and Davis provided the game winner at 73:08 on an assist from Kelsey Carter.

Shenandoah led in shots, 13-11, and in corner kicks, 10-3. UMW senior goalie Tina Brehm had six saves, while Shenandoah's Kat Terza allowed two goals and made six saves as well.

The Eagles will return to action on Monday when they host Eastern Mennonite University at 4 p.m.
