VA Man Who Wouldn't Leave Faces Assault On Law Enforcement Charges
Stafford County sheriff's deputies arrested a 21-year-old man who they say resisted arrest, striking several of them in the process.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 21-year-old man from Mineral, Virginia is facing four charges of assault and battery to law enforcement after he showed up at a Fredericksburg area home and refused to leave, according to authorities.
The Stafford County Sheriff's Officer received a call around 4:16 a.m., on Sunday, about a man who wouldn't leave the caller's home, according to the incident report. A deputy responded to the caller's residence on Edwards Drive and got a description of the suspect, who was identified as Bradlee Sheedy of Mineral.
Another deputy a man walking along the side of Deacon Road who matched Bradlee's description, according to the sheriff's office.

"The subject showed clear signs of intoxication and provided false identification to the deputies," the report said. "As deputies were attempting to take Sheedy into custody, he began to actively resist."
After being taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, Sheedy continued to resist, striking several deputies, according to the sheriff's office. He was charged with four counts of assault and battery to law enforcement, four counts of obstruction of justice, providing false identification to law enforcement, and public intoxication. He was then held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Sheedy was arraigned Monday morning in Stafford County General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Dec. 18, according to court records.
Each of the assault on law enforcement charges is a Class 6 felony, which carries potential penalty of one to five years in prison or, at the discretion of the court, up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia. The remaining charges are all misdemeanors.
