SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — Investigators with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office obtained an arrest warrant Wednesday for a 36-year-old Spotsylvania woman they say abducted and then fled the country with her 12-year-old daughter, according to authorities.

Earlier in the week, the 12-year-old girl's guardian filed a missing child report with the sheriff's office. She told investigators that although she had full custody of the child, the 12-year-old's mother was allowed visitation.

"During the most recent visitation, the child’s mother would not return the child to the appropriate guardian," according to the incident report. "Detectives within the Criminal Investigation Division were quickly alerted and began their investigation. Due to their investigation, it was discovered the child’s mother fled the country with the child."
