This Is VA's 'Most Beautiful' Restaurant, New Ranking Says

VIRGINIA — Lemaire is the most beautiful restaurant in Virginia, according to a new 50-state list from People Magazine.

People said the 50 Most Beautiful Restaurants in America list was developed by OpenTable in celebration of the magazine’s 50th anniversary.

“These super-stylish stunners deliver unforgettable dining experiences,” People said. “There are mountaintop chalets with modern rustic touches, glammed-up Art Deco mansions with a view, and mirror-and-glass paneled sky-high stunners.”

People said of Lemaire, 101 W. Jefferson St. at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. "With stately marble columns, high ceilings, and hand-blown crystal chandeliers, this dining room is especially grand."

Here's what the online restaurant reservation site OpenTable says of Lemaire: "New American restaurant and bar that is inspired by the agricultural and coastal traditions and bounty of Virginia. Lemaire delivers the quality and service The Jefferson Hotel is known for, but in an accessible format without the pretense, formality or expense!"

Popular dishes include its crab cake sandwich and its jumbo lump crab cake.

North Carolina: Tamasha Modern Indian in Raleigh, "Moody interiors — gold archways, elaborate light fixtures, dramatic marble — meet flavorful modern Indian fare."

West Virginia: Lightburn's Restaurant in Roanoke. "Beamed ceilings provide panoramic views of the Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, lake, and surrounding state park."
