VDOT Discusses I-95 Improvements, Tolls

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public information meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday to provide information about the Commonwealth’s proposal to the federal government to improve I-95, which includes tolling. 

The meeting will be at VDOT's Fredericksburg District Office, 86 Deacon Road. 

VDOT staff will review with the public the latest proposal to the Federal Government, which includes a potential tolling location in Sussex County, VDOT said in a press release.

Revenue from toll collections would be a funding source to help pay for improvements, including rehabilitating aging bridges and pavements.

"During the meetings, the public will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposal, review potential toll discount plans, ask questions and provide their comments," VDOT said.

Virginia’s proposed I-95 Corridor Improvement Program is a comprehensive approach to funding critical projects, VDOT said. The program includes the potential tolling of I-95 through the Interstate Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Pilot Program (ISRRPP), administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
