VDOT Hiring in Fredericksburg District

Applications for district administrator will be accepted through 5 p.m. Feb. 11, 2014.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is accepting applications for a district administrator in the Fredericksburg region.

"This position plays a key role in building partnerships with various levels of government, elected officials, non-profit and private sector groups, the media and employees to better serve the public in meeting current and future transportation needs," the job description says.

VDOT is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the state's roads, bridges, tunnels and ferries. Through the Commonwealth Transportation Board, it also provides funding for airports, rail, and public transportation. Virginia has the third largest state-maintained highway system in the country. VDOT has about 7,500 employees making it one of the largest state agencies in Virginia
