What's Open, Closed For July 4 Holiday In Fredericksburg

The Independence Day holiday will bring closures and various fireworks events to the region.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Americans will celebrate Independence Day with parades, barbecues, fireworks and other festivities. Many services will be closed or adjusted for the holiday.

The July 4 holiday falls on a Friday, so many workers will have a three-day weekend. Local government offices and others will close for the holiday, while transit and select other services will run on a modified schedule.

Fredericksburg City government offices: Closed on July 4.

Courts: Closed on July 4.

Fredericksburg Regional Transit will not operate transit services on Friday, July 4. All administrative offices will be closed.

Department of Motor Vehicles: Virginia DMV offices are closed on July 4, and some services are available online at dmv.virginia.gov

Rappahannock Regional Libraries: All library locations are closed on July 4.

Post offices: Closed on July 4.

Trash and recycling: Curbside trash and recycling collections will take place. Collection on holidays can occur earlier than typical collection so, be sure all items are on curb by 7 a.m. Items not on ready on the curb when crew passes by will not be collected. Items will have to be removed from curb until next week’s regular collection.

Belman Road Recycling Center and the Stafford Landfill will be closed July 4. Both locations will resume normal operations on Saturday, July 5, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
