FREDERICKSBURG, VA — On Monday, residents and businesses around Fredericksburg will take a moment to honor the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.

As a federal holiday, MLK Day could also affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in the Fredericksburg area.Before you head out, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in our city:

  • Schools: Public schools in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and Stafford will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15.
