Woman Dies After Jumping Off I-95 Overpass, According to Police

Virginia State Police said the woman died from injuries resulting from her fall.

A woman died Wednesday evening in what police are investigating as a possible suicide.  

Virginia State Police said they received 9-1-1 calls at 4:50 p.m. reporting someone had jumped from the Route 208 Courthouse Road overpass onto the southbound lanes of I-95.  State Police and the Spotsylvania Sheriffs Office responded.

"A 52-year-old female resident of Spotsylvania County died as a result of injuries sustained in the fall," Virginia State Police said.

Rush hour traffic was backed-up for hours, police said.
