Woman Killed By Fallen Tree In Stafford: Police

A 78-year-old woman was killed early Monday when a tree fell onto her home in Stafford during a storm that swept through the area: SCSO.

STAFFORD, VA—A 78-year-old woman was killed early Monday, April 15, when a tree fell onto her home on Doyle Place during a storm that swept through the area, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Another person in the residence, an 82-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly before 1:45 a.m., police were dispatched to the scene to assist in the rescue. They found the woman pinned under a tree, and she was pronounced dead at 2:20 a.m. Both the woman and the man apparently were asleep at the time. Their identities were not released.
