While speaking with the driver, Nance, the officer noticed that the child kept trying to run into the middle of the road. He asked the woman, Trend, to keep an eye on the child, after which she suddenly leaned over with her eyes closed. He prevented her from falling and helped lower her to a seated position on the ground, during which she began mumbling and became unresponsive.
The officer immediately asked the male passenger to take the child away from the scene. He then revived with woman by administering Narcan. Rescue personnel arrived on the scene but the woman declined treatment before later being taken to an area hospital.
