Woman's Overdose Leads To Charges In Stafford: SCSO

A wife and husband were arrested following her apparent drug overdose at a grocery store parking lot in Stafford, according to police.

STAFFORD, VA—A wife and husband were arrested Saturday night, April 13, following her apparent drug overdose in a grocery store parking lot at 905 Garrisonville Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

Tammy Savage, 55, of Stafford, was charged with possession of controlled substances, possession of marijuana, driving under the influence, driving DUI revoked and open container. James Savage, 60, of Stafford, was charged with driving under the influence.

Shortly before 9:45 p.m., police responded to the scene for a reported unknown medical emergency at Weis Markets. A caller had reported seeing an unresponsive woman passed out in a vehicle's passenger seat.

The deputy used Narcan to revive her, and a search of the vehicle found a clear plastic baggie containing a brown powdery residue, prescription pill bottles, marijuana and open beer cans. Savage said she had been drinking and used a controlled substance before driving to a 7-Eleven, after which her husband drove to the grocery store lot.

When police spoke with James Savage, a strong odor of alcohol was evident. He said he had been drinking and had driven the vehicle from the 7-Eleven across the street. Field sobriety tests were conducted, after which he was arrested.
