Wreck Results in Drugged Driving Charges

Head on collision shuts down Fall Hill Ave. for 30 minutes earlier today.

A Fredericksburg resident was charged with driving under the influence of drugs after he was involved in a head on collision on Fall Hill Avenue earlier today. Police say they found prescription narcotics in a Honda being driven by 29 year-old Nick Kastellos. The crash occurred at around 11:14 a.m. when Kastellos' car, headed eastbound, crossed into the westbound lane of Fall Hill Avenue and struck a modified Ford Econoline van owned by Angel Rides, a regional mobility service for the disabled and elderly.

Kastellos was able to extricate himself from his badly damaged car under his own power before laying down on the side of the road. He was transported to Mary Washington Hospital to be treated for severe head trauma. Kastellos was served with his charges at the hospital.

The driver of the van was not injured.
