Startups To Watch: 14 Alexandria Area Companies Make Inc. 5000 List

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Numerous startups with roots in the Alexandria area are worth keeping an eye on as they respond to some of the nation’s most vexing problems, Inc. magazine said with the release of its 2023 Inc. 5000 list.

The startup companies were ranked by revenue growth from 2019 to 2022. To be considered, they had to have earned at least $100,000 in 2019 and grown that to at least $2 million by the end of 2022. To be considered, the companies must have been up and generating revenue by March 31, 2019.

There were 275 companies from Virginia on the list, including 210 in the DC metropolitan region. That includes 135 companies previously on the Inc. 5000 list and 19 new companies.

Companies in the Alexandria area included in the ranking are:

• 87. Integrated Management Strategies, a technical consulting company, grew by 5,311 percent during the three years and ranked 87th nationally.
• 430. Antean Technology, an IT firm, grew by 1,351 percent during the three years and ranked 430th nationally.
• 491. OneZero Solutions, a government contractor, grew by 1,191 percent during the three years and ranked 491st nationally.
• 811. Tidal Basin Government Consulting, an emergency management and consulting firm, grew by 728 percent during the three years and ranked 811th nationally.
• 877. Bent Ear Solutions, a consultant, grew by 671 percent during the three years and ranked 877th nationally.
• 1,150. MovementX, a physical therapy community, grew by 517 percent during the three years and ranked 1,150th nationally.
• 2,047. Aptive, a government contractor, grew by 274 percent during the three years and ranked 2,047th nationally.
• 2,516. Edmond Scientific Company, an engineering firm, grew by 217 percent during the three years and ranked 2,516th nationally.
• 2,999. Aligned Technology Solutions, an IT firm, grew by 173 percent during the three years and ranked 2,999th nationally.
• 3,074. Mayvin, a government contractor, grew by 168 percent during the three years and ranked 3,074th nationally.
• 3,196. Alconost, a language translation service, grew by 160 percent during the three years and ranked 3,196th nationally.
• 3,556. Dignari, a government contractor, grew by 139 percent during the three years and ranked 3,556th nationally.
• 3,670. The Spiggle Law Firm, a labor and employment law firm, grew by 132 percent during the three years and ranked 3,670th nationally.
• 4,857. Black Bear Technology Solutions, an IT firm, grew by 79 percent during the three years and ranked 4,857th nationally.

The Inc. 5000 companies had combined revenues of $358.2 billion, added nearly 1.2 million jobs and grew at a median rate of 219 percent. The list featured 638 newly founded companies and 3,047 repeat honorees.
