Annette Jones, 91, Of Alexandria
Funeral service and burial information for longtime Alexandria resident Annette Jones.

Annette Lois (Witkin) Jones’ soul was reunited with her maker as well as her earthly father Ronald Heller Spitzer and mother Mildred Edythe née Jaffe Spitzer upon passing peacefully at her home residence of 65 years in Alexandria on Dec. 22, 2018 at age 91.
Annette was born in Easton, Pennsylvania on June 8, 1927. Annette moved with her family to
Washington, DC in 1931. Annette attended Powell Elementary, MacFarland Middle and graduated
from Roosevelt High School in the District.
Annette settled in Alexandria after her marriage to Norman Witkin in 1949 and remained a lifelong resident. Annette was a congregant of Agudas Achim Congregation for many years contributing countless hours as a member and officer of the Sisterhood and B’nai Brith.

Annette always had a passion for fashion and was known by many for her vivacious personality and hospitable nature. Beginning in high school, Annette’s worked for a variety of retailers including Woodward & Lothrop, Hecht’s and Landsburgh’s. After her three children began school, Annette returned to doing what she professionally enjoyed at the Smithsonian Institution, managing the jewelry offerings for their Museum Shops. During her 25 years with the Smithsonian Institution from whence she retired, Annette was afforded the opportunity to meet numerous visitors from all over the world ranging from heads of state and United States Presidents to children who were touring on field trips to ensure all had the opportunity to find the “perfect” gift they were seeking.
Annette was preceded in death by her first husband of 21 years Norman Sol Witkin, her second
husband of 25 years Frederick Ulysses Jones and her daughter Marilyn Susan Witkin. Annette leaves her daughter Maxanne Witkin and her husband Peter Facas of Falls Church, VA; son Ira Witkin of Boca Raton, FL.; grandchildren Norman Facas of Alexandria, VA, Nash Witkin of San Francisco, CA, Sam Facas of New York, NY, Kira Witkin of New York, NY and Elexis Marie Witkin of College Park, MD.

Funeral service will be held at Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 at 3 p.m. with burial following in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Annette’s memory can be
